Aukland, New Zealand

After 4 sea days it was exciting to once again be in a new port. It was also a bit sad because Aukland meant the first wave of the World Cruisers departing (we will be the second wave in Sydney and Brisbane will be the 3rd and final wave).

This will be our goal when we return in 2024!

Because I was still on walking restrictions, today’s activity was the Hop on, Hop off bus. We did an almost full loop before getting off at Kelly Tarltons – an aquarium that had been described as an Aukland ‘must do’. Fortunately, we got there in time for the penguin feeding and talk as it was probably the highlight for us.

After the aquarium, we completed the loop back to the city centre.

Same-same but different!

We spent some time tracking down a chemist and supermarket to restock on some essentials then spent a bit of time geocaching.

I was happy to look up and watch others get their adrenalin rush from the Sky Tower.

Aukland had a bit of a Tassie/Hobart feel to it. Even though it was a sunny day, there was not much warmth in the sun – another reminder that we are getting closer to home.
