Today we did a circumnavigation of Pitcairn Island. It took about an hour to do the circumnavigation of the island which is similar in area to New York’s Central Park.

There are currently only 49 residents on the island – most of whom are the direct descendants of the Bounty mutineers and the Tahitian women that they took with them.

As we did the circumnavigation we listened to the new mayor of the town (he has only lived there for 1 year and was previously from Yorkshire). One of the passengers had also grown up on Pitcairn Island before moving to Norfolk Island and we listened to her talk to her relatives on the island in Pitkern.

It was a beautiful day with lovely weather but I don’t think I could be tempted to live somewhere so small and remote!
