A morning walk around Urubamba – Sacred Valley, Peru

As we were in ‘group 2’ we weren’t scheduled to meet in the hotel reception until 10:15am.

We decided to go for a walk around the local area. After a brief discussion with the Spanish only speaking security guard at the front gate we ascertained that if we crossed the road and went straight for 4 blocks we would be at the Plaza. Our interpretation was close enough – we found the local market (and then eventually the town square!)

We had an enjoyable stroll around the market where everyone seemed quite welcoming. Despite there being slumbering dogs everywhere, the streets were also very clean.

We were impressed with the quality and variety of the fresh produce.
Given their size we thought they were turkeys, but they are corn feed chickens.
Hats & plaits!
Say cheese!
Quail eggs – they even shelled them for customers.
Nothing wasted!

After checking out the market we walked to the nearby town square before returning to the resort.
