Saguenay, Quebec,  Canada

Our visit to Saguenay was more about the  journey through the fjord than the destination itself. Because it did not have a whole heap of touristy things to do, it was very much a geocaching and taking in the local way of life day for us.

We got a very warm welcome from the locals

We waited until the heavy rained passed before setting out for the day. First, a walk along the waterfront to the Ha!Ha! pyramid.

Ha!Ha! Pyramid

Pyramid reached we turned around and headed back toward the town centre – this time taking the high road.

View from the top of town
We got to walk down rather than up these!

Back towards the centre of town another heavy rain storm struck – we took shelter in the school (it was Friday but school holidays here).

Time to do some indoor exploration of the shops until the weather cleared.

Don’t find these in the IGA deli at home
The area is famous for its blueberries!
A uniquely Canadian flavour

We finished off exploring the other side of town before heading back to the ship.

Not sure what the story is here!
A very different way of sending and receiving mail and shopping catalogues.
Just how high does the snow get?
