Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Today we arrived in Reykjavik at midday. Our first activity was a trip to the Blue Lagoon.

Once outside the city of Reykjavik, the landscape was very different to the landscapes we had experienced around Akeruyri yesterday. It was mostly endless lava fields. We did go past a lava field which they had converted to a golf course. You would need to learn to hit very straight to stay on the fairway or go through a lot of balls!

At Blue Lagoon you are given a wristband. You then proceed to the change room and put all your belongings and clothes into a locker. After a shower the next challenge is to put your bathers on while still wet!

Once inside you head to the first swim up bar to get your magical face scrub – a silica cream that is anti-aging.

After shot – you be the judge!

The second swim up bar offers a variety of refreshments including Icelandic Gull beer and this blue drink!

Hope it doesn’t taste like it is labelled!

The temperature of the water was very pleasant and we had once again lucked a clear, sunny day. You get a towel as you exit and then a nice warm shower with body wash, shampoo and conditioner all provided. Possibly the most expensive swim we will ever have – but worth it for the experience.

The most recent eruption in Iceland was in July. The photo below shows on going volcanic activity.
