Since leaving Lisbon the temperature has taken a noticeable decline. Not quite jumper weather, but instead of spending our sea day afternoons in the fresh air by the open air pool, we have been back to the hot tub in the covered pool area.

We have not been to this part of Wales before but decided that instead of taking one of the organised ship’s tours, which were focussed on visiting the many castles in the area, we would do our own exploring.
The shuttle bus dropped us at the train/ferry station. After checking the timetable we headed over the Celtic bridge and into the town.

It didn’t take long to explore the little town, so we headed further afield. Paved streets gave way to paths and paddocks accessed by public walkways and stiles. We walked to the foothills of the mountain before returning via the water front.

We had to be back to catch the 11:48 train to our next destination – the town with the 2nd longest name in the world (first longest is in New Zealand). It is an impressive 58 letters long but generally shortened to Llainfair P.G.

We then had a 1 1/2hr wait for the return train. Time for another walk and some geocache hunting. Although we didn’t see either church or the vicious whirlpool, it was a lovely walk without the crowds and steep climbs of the last two weeks.
