First Sea day

Stanley

We had spent the evening of boarding day exploring the many decks and facilities of the ship. Hopefully as the days progress we will spend less time getting lost!

Freebies!

Using our cruise app, we had selected a variety of activities for our first sea day. Our day started in the gym on the treadmil and then some cool down laps around the Promenade deck. 2.8 laps of the Promenade Deck equals 1 mile. Which then explained why it felt like we had run our little hearts out on the treadmill for not much distance- they too are calibrated in miles! It wasn’t just over indulgence of the drinks package as we explored the many bars and cafes the night before.

Not sure how much time running in the gym and laps of the Promenade Deck will be required to offset the effect of all the yummy food and drink that is available 24/7!

We had breakfast at the buffet in Horizon Court on deck 14. After breakfast we then went to our first Bridge for Beginners lesson. This was of course followed by lunch. Using our magic medallion/app combo, lunch was brought to us in the Explorers Lounge as we watched a movie ’80 for Brady’.

Harder than it looks!

In the afternoon we participated in a ‘chipping’ competition. Our day finished with dinner in the restaurant and then watching the stage show for that evening- Encore.

The magical app!

My experience of cruises is that they operate cashlessly by each passenger having a card/medallion that you scan to record your purchases, etc. Perhaps as a covid innovation, to avoid queuing or crowding around bars or counters, Princess has developed an app that, among many things, includes the ability to order food and drink anywhere, anytime which will be brought to your current location.
